Sharing in the Creative Adventures of Life with Zentangles
Due to my overexcitement of recieving my first comment this morning I inadvertently "closed" the option for others to comment on my blog. I have fixed the problem and look forward to the open lines of communication...again.

This weeks challenge was in honor of today being Moebius Syndrome Awareness day. We were to take the symbol of the Moebius Sydrome Foundation and use it in our Zentangle. I tried something different by first cutting the outline of the the symbol and then cutting the remaining lines. I then used the cut out shapes as the pattern to create a mosiac type piece. With the exception of the small diamonds near the outer circle, only the pieces that were part of the Moebius symbol are colored purple. I tried out Diane Lachane's pattern Parasail-z for the outer 3 parts of the design and I used a variation of Carol Ohl's pattern Baton for the outer border. This tile has a simular feel to me as the artwork of the Indians who live in the Northwest of the United States.

I first became aware of this syndrome in the late 1990's s when my husband had a co-worker with it. He was a very nice and intellegent man but could not move his mouth or eyes; however, it was obvious he had speech therapy at some point. If you weren't watching him, or if you were talking to him on the phone, you would never know that he had any type of challenges by just listening to him talk.
This was the result of my first Diva Challenge that I participated in though I did not post the result on the Diva Challenge site. This was also the first tile I produced after my class with CZT, Susanne Wilka of Tinkered Art, in early December. I was pleasantly suprised when I was finished!

A little rain and the need to remain in the right side of my brain on this day created the environment where I lost myself completely. After a total of seven hours (I did take a few breaks) my Zentangle was finished. While I have not been doing Zentangles for long I have discovered that I do lean towards drawing very detailed tiles.

In response to the extreme level of detal in my previous tile, I wanted to explore the same theme (purple) but intentionally pursue simplicity. I have been intrigued (and intimidated) by the pattern Verdigogh and decided to "take the plunge". The result is above and drawing simple Zentangles is in my capability!

This was a strange tile for me and I did not like it when I started. However, I kept working with it and began playing wth shading to help give it a three dimensional look with the different layers. The Undine pattern became the border and reminded me of chain links.

I am jumping in with both feet as I enter the world of blogging and am looking forward joining the community of the creatives who participate in Zentangles. If am successful in publishing this post I will know that I am on the right path. There are aspests of this page in its template form that I do not yet understand; however, just as in drawing a Zentangle I am ready to take the first step and then figure out the details as I go. I look forward to sharing this new journey with friends of old and those I have yet to meet...
